Installation

  2. Option A (OEM clips): reuse the original clips for a quick, clean fit.
  3. Option B (Rivnuts): install rivnuts in the tailgate skin and bolt the panel on for a robust, serviceable mount ideal for heavier loads.
  4. Attach your straps, pouches, chair mounts, or accessories using the slots and holes.

FAQ

Will it fit my Transporter?

Yes. TrunkKarrier fits VW Transporter T5, T6, and T6.1 tailgate. Also valid for the VW Caravelle and Multivan.

Do I need to drill?

No if you use OEM clips. If you prefer a bolt-on, serviceable setup for heavier loads, install rivnuts and use bolts. You may have to enlarge the factory holes.

What’s the maximum load capacity?

The load capacity doesn’t really depend on the panel itself but on your tailgate’s gas struts. You can keep the OEM struts if you’re carrying light gear, but for heavier setups/chairs we recommend upgrading to at least 1200 N / 1500 N struts to safely support the extra weight.

What accessories can I mount?

Chairs, Pouches, Hiking poles, axes, shovels, straps, hooks, organizers, and many overland accessories that use slots or round-hole fixings.
