CB radio setup for VW Transporter
CB radio setup for VW Transporter: antenna, radio and handset mount
Three mounts that work together on a VW Transporter. The Antenna Mount carries the CB antenna on the bonnet, the Command panel holds the CB Handset, and the Cockpit panel provides a spot on the dashboard for the CB Radio. Both RAM/Quadlock (AMPS) compatible.

Why mount a CB radio this way?
A CB radio in a T6 usually means finding somewhere to put the radio and somewhere to put the antenna without cutting into the van. This setup solves both. The antenna sits on the bonnet using the factory bonnet screws. The handset hangs overhead in the sun visor area, where you can reach it without looking around.
It is made for overland and off-road use, where the radio needs to be within reach and the antenna needs to survive trails. The Antenna Mount shares its base design with our PODKarrier bonnet bracket, which is already fitted on many vans. Rock solid and wobble-free, which is why many customers have swapped out their old setups from other brands for this one.
The mounts:

Which VW models does each piece fit?
| Model | Antenna Mount | Command | Cockpit |
|---|---|---|---|
| VW T5 | Yes | Yes | No |
| VW T6 | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| VW T6.1 | Yes | Not yet | Not yet |
The complete three-piece setup is for the VW T6. On a T5 you can combine the Antenna Mount and the Command. On a T6.1 the Antenna Mount fits today, and the other two are planned for later. Each piece is sold separately, so you can start with one and add the others.
- The antenna is not included. The Antenna Mount takes a standard antenna base with a 19 mm hole. There is about 2 to 3.5 cm of space under the bracket for the base.
- The Antenna Mount is sold per side, driver or passenger. Pick the side you want the antenna on.
- The Command is not tested with California sun blockers, which may interfere. After fitting it, the original visor no longer tilts fully down, though the loss is minor.
- The Cockpit is bolted to the dashboard, so it needs drilling. Double-sided tape held in our tests, but we do not recommend it, and we take no responsibility if it fails while driving.
Frequently asked questions
Can I mount a CB radio in a VW T6 without drilling the body?
Yes. The Antenna Mount bolts to the bonnet with the factory bonnet screws, and the Command panel installs on the factory sun visor screws. Only the Cockpit panel needs drilling, and that is into the dashboard, not the body.
Where does the CB antenna go on a VW T6?
On the bonnet. The Antenna Mount has a 19 mm pre-drilled hole for the antenna base and slots to route the cable with zip ties. Slotted mounting holes let you adjust the position slightly.
Where do I put the CB radio itself?
On the Command panel. It sits in the sun visor area above the windshield and takes RAM bases and RAM mounts, so you can hang the radio overhead and keep it within reach while driving. Dedicated holes are also available.
What is the Cockpit panel for if the radio is on the Command?
It gives you a second RAM-compatible surface on the dashboard for whatever you want in front of you: a radio, a phone, a GPS or an action camera. You can run all three pieces together or only the ones you need.
Does this fit the VW T6.1 or the T5?
The Antenna Mount fits T5, T6 and T6.1, including California models. The Command fits T5 and T6 with original visors. The Cockpit is only for the T6, because the dashboard shape is different on the T5 and T6.1.
Which antenna base fits the Antenna Mount?
Any standard base that works with a 19 mm hole and about 2 to 3.5 cm of clearance under the bracket. Some customers use the Sirio HP-AC/U PL base, which has enough clearance.
Where are these made and how fast do they ship?
Everything is made in Spain. EU shipping usually takes 3 to 5 days. We also ship to Norway, Switzerland and the UK.
